Description of the Workshop:

In our roles as educators and students, we all face complicated situations where we must decide whether to pause or move on, as well as when to speak up or listen. This workshop will open dialogue around experiences in the classroom and other spaces while navigating the impacts of disasters, atrocities, and other events that cause high negative emotions.

By the end of this workshop, participants will have received tools to assist them with facilitating classes, meetings, and other gatherings after a traumatic event. Participants will be invited to reflect on past experiences and how teachers, parents, and others in leadership handled situations. Participants will also learn trauma-informed strategies related to how you engage and support in places where they steward discussions.
