Short Description of the Workshop:

Diversity and inclusion in the workplace causes employees to feel accepted and valued. When employees feel accepted and valued, they are also happier in their workplace and stay longer with an organization. As a result, organizations with greater diversity in the workplace have lower turnover rates and greater retention. This workshop highlights benefits that develop when organizations employee a diverse team of individuals. Participants will learn how to promote diversity in hiring and practice inclusion on a day-to-day basis.

Presenter Bios:

Dr. Samose L. Mays is the Parks and Recreation Director of Bryan County Georgia and adjunct professor at Georgia Southern University. Dr. Mays is also the founder of the Minority Recreational Leadership Academy (MRLA). Dr. Mays is also a member of NRPA (National Recreation and Park Association), NACPRO (National Association of County Parks and Recreation Officials), GRPA (Georgia Recreation and Park Association) and the Black Doctoral Network (BDN).
