Short Description of the Workshop:

Finishing our terminal degree led to the discovery of our passion. Now we want to help other doctoral graduates discover theirs. In this workshop, we will share our testimony outlining our path from doctoral students to education consulting entrepreneurs. We will encourage participants to dream along with us through guiding questions to help each person discover their own personal passion and identify creative connections from academia to the real world.

Presenter Bios:

Dr. Toni Harrison-Kelly is a fifteen-year exemplary teaching veteran and education consultant, having worked with a variety of community partners, including KERA, the Dallas-area PBS affiliate and trained over 1,300 parents and teachers to date. Dr. Harrison-Kelly earned her Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University, where she focused on researching student engagement in high-poverty, high-minority schools. She is also the Co-Founder of School Leadership for Social Justice (www.slsj.us), an equity firm focused on changing the story for students and for society.
