Auburn University’s (AU) Office of Inclusion and Diversity, Graduate School, and Black Graduate and Professional Student Association (BGPSA) have established the Graduate Diversity Campus Experience (DiCE). This newly-developed program provides an opportunity for students from underrepresented groups to learn about various graduate and professional degree programs offered at Auburn University.

Program attendees will have the opportunity to interact with current graduate and professional students and faculty members within their program of interest while exploring Auburn’s campus and community. Participants will attend professional development workshops that will provide them with the skills and resources needed to strengthen their graduate school application, such as mock interviews and a review of their personal statement.

It is our hope that, upon completion of the campus experience, emerging scholars will:

    ●       Have an increased interest in graduate or professional studies

    ●       Become more well-rounded and competitive candidates for graduate                        programs

    ●       Gain skills that will benefit them in their graduate school application process

    ●       Build valuable relationships with current and prospective graduate students

    ●       Understand that graduate education is an attainable goal

The Graduate Diversity Campus Experience program will be held September 21-24, 2017. The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. CST Monday, June 12, 2017. Applicants will be notified of the application committee’s decision no later than 11:59 p.m. CST Friday, July 14th. Lodging arrangements have been made at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center and meal expenses will be covered for the duration of the program for participants. It is the responsibility of the DiCE fellow to find transportation to and from The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.

    The DiCE application requires:

    ●       GRE/GMAT date/expected date and score

    ●       Graduate program of interest at Auburn University

    ●       Semester of potential enrollment

    ●       Letter of interest – Write 300-400 words addressing one of the topics below:

    • Personal background and life experiences, including social, cultural, familial, educational or other opportunities or challenges, which are motivating your decision to pursue a graduate or professional degree
    • Describe how a graduate education will help you attain your career goals.

    ●       Resume or curriculum vitae

    ●       Unofficial transcripts

    ●       At least one professional letter of recommendation

We are searching for DiCE fellows that demonstrate a strong interest or potential in pursuing graduate and professional studies. Applicants must be students at the undergraduate or lower graduate level. If your institution is interested in recommending students to the AU Graduate DiCE program, please disseminate this information to prospective applicants.  All applications are to be electronically submitted on the DiCE website for consideration.

    Thank you for your assistance.
